Oct 20. The Summer Creek Bulldogs went up against Beaumont United and dominated them all 4 quarters. From Offense to Defense, the Bulldogs were doing their job.
“The locker room vibes were good, I could feel the high confidence [the players] had just from being in the locker room,” Sophomore Quarterback Blake Dickerson said. “We used that confident energy and came out on top.”
Starting with the Offense, Blake Thomas had 3 touchdowns, throwing 2 to his main target Kordell Rodgers and one to receiver Caleb Welch. Rodgers is a very consistent player, scoring one or more touchdowns almost every game. Senior running back Lloyd Avant came out with two touchdowns in the first half. However, he did not play in the second half. Coaches are playing it safe and resting their star players, since playoffs are looming.
On the defensive side of the ball, there were three plays that put the Bulldogs on top. Junior cornerback Denim Samples picked off a pass for an interception. Additionally, Nick Ramirez also broke up the drive with an interception. Last but not least, transfer Qwest Simmons recovered a loose ball at the start of the game.
The final score of the game came out to be 47-2. Summer Creek advances to 7-1, while Beaumont United falls to 1-7.
“I felt very good about the game,” Freshman wide receiver Brandon Jones said. “I felt like as a team we did a very good job in all aspects of the game but there is always room for improvement.”
Next week will be a test for Summer Creek, battling against CE King. Will they move on to 8-1, or have a set back to 7-2?
