A christmas carol: Muppets edition

It isn’t the Christmas season without watching some version of A Christmas Carol. I’ve heard good things about Spirited, starring Ryan “I play the same character in every movie now” Reynolds and Will “Remember Elf?” Ferrell, but I haven’t seen that one. I also like Scrooged starring Bill Murray and that one weird animated one with Jim Carrey but undoubtedly, the best is a Muppet Christmas Carol.

The Muppets Christmas Carol is an absolute masterpiece with amazing music, the best puppets, and not even joking, an absolutely perfect performance from Michael Caine as Ebenezer  Scrooge. There’s too much to say about this movie honestly because it’s so perfect!

First, the Muppets are some of the funniest performers on the planet and they are the best! They never fail to make me laugh and they are just iconic. My personal favorite is Gonzo. He’s great and his role as the stunt performer, the absolute best. He’s got a great role in this movie, the narrator himself, Charles Dickens, and he kills it!

Next, the music. All the Muppets movies are musicals, or have a musical number in them for sure and they’re all really great! I don’t want to spoil it for you because they’ve got some great songs in here. Michael Caine has a really good song in it which is genuinely really surprising but fantastic, not my personal favorite, but great.

Speaking of Michael Caine, he went into this movie and gave it all, like an Oscar worthy performance. Anthony Hopkins got the Oscar in 1992 for Best Actor for Silence of the Lambs, but in my extremely professional opinion, Michael Caine should’ve won. In his song, he gives it his ALL! You need to watch this movie just for his performance honestly!

This is the best adaptation of A Christmas Carol and if you haven’t seen it, it’s on Disney plus and you absolutely must watch it! It’s how I’m celebrating my Christmas and you should too!
