The Bulldogs made history by beating Atascocita Nov 3. Throughout all the doubts from social media, hate from other schools, Summer Creek came out Friday night led by Coach Harrsion determined. The 45-28 final score shows how determined they were. So what exactly happened? What happens next for the playoffs?
The player of the game is no other than senior Lloyd Avant. With 304 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns against the Atascocita defense, it was a no brainer answer. The Bulldogs will continue to have Avant run through defenses while also using targets like Caleb Welch, Kordell Rodgers, Kobe Roberts and John Jones. Quarterback Blake Thomas ran over 60 yards for a touchdown. His speed and ability to get around defenders will also produce a lot in the playoffs. On the defensive side, junior Brandon Jones was thrown two picks, one being taken all the way to the endzone for a pick six.
Jones did not wear gloves during the game. He “wanted to leave a print so they know who did it.”
The defensive lineman Kyran Duhon had a huge fore fumble that was recovered by Chad Woodfork. The senior Duhon was offered to commit by Washington State a few days after this game. Overall, the Bulldogs were able to come as a unit and beat the Eagles on each concept. They slowed down star players like Tory Blaylock, Zion Brown and more. If Summer Creek is able to continue moving with this determination, they have a chance to go all the way and win state.
Summer Creek will be playing Pasadena Memorial Thursday at Turner Stadium. Despite Pasadena’s record being 5-5, Coach Harrison stated “everyone is 0-0, season records don’t mean anything come playoffs.” With Captians Lloyd Avant, Alex Vigil, Jaylen Carter, and Kyran Duhon leading the Bulldogs throughout the playoffs, this 2023-24 team will make history.
