With many new additions to the varsity roster, the Lady Bulldogs plan to bring new energy, skills and team chemistry to the court this volleyball season.
“I’m looking forward to playing with my favorite people,” senior libero Makalya Smith said. “My friends, creating bonds, and playing the game I love with the people I love.”
During off season training, the players set personal and team goals to motivate them throughout the season.
“My goal is to be confident in every single game I play,” junior defensive specialist Aoki Fejeran said. “To be able to snap back from anything, like a bad play or a shank ball and to make sure my mental health is my first priority.”
Smith’s plan is to push herself to help lead her team to a district championship through communication and hustle.
“My personal goal this season is being the person you can hear in the other gym and the one going everywhere, getting every ball,” Smith said.
For freshman outside hitter Kamani Chenier, the intensity of away games is most anticipated. A full student section for the opposing team feeds her ambition.
“It’s like a feeling of wanting it more,” Chenier said. “I want to see how the team does under the pressure of not having a home game. We want to prove ourselves this season.”
