For senior Easton George, his passion for photography was found through his interest in technology and funny edits with friends.
“I started seeing things on social media and joined classes that had to do with technology,’’ Easton said. “There was a day I did edits on an app and I just started doing funny edits of vlogs with friends. Eventually, I picked up a camera one day and found out I was pretty good at my vision, photography just clicked for me.’’
Since that moment, photography has been one of Easton’s favorite hobbies. Although he says there aren’t any photographers that inspire him, he finds new and creative ways by looking at other people’s work to better improve his skills.
One of his favorite Instagram posts on his page is from the girls’ varsity basketball semifinals.
“The game was great, and that post got a lot of recognition from my family and friends,’’ Easton said. “After that post, I started to become more known for my photography.’’
After high school, Easton mainly wants to focus on baseball, but doesn’t want to leave photography behind completely.
“I don’t really plan on doing photography in college because I’ll be more focused on baseball,’’ he said. “But I do plan on taking a photography class just to stay grounded to a hobby I love.’’
Though he has been a constant presence on the sidelines this fall, with football’s postseason creeping up, Easton says he probably won’t pick up the camera much and will instead be the one in front of it.
“I’ll likely not pick up a camera because of baseball season,’’ he said. “But I’m excited for my season.”
As senior night approaches, Easton’s story shows how high school can lead to unexpected passions. His work behind the camera has left a lasting impression, one he will carry with him long after graduation.
