Volleyball: District Champs!

On Friday, Oct. 14, Summer Creek girls varsity volleyball beat Kingwood High School, remaining undefeated and clinching the district title for the first time in school history. The scores were 15-25, 25-23, 19-25, 25-22, and 15-7.

Kennedy Gustafson, senior libero, University of Louisiana commit, and leader of the team explained her excitement.

“I felt relieved that we finally won district for my last year of high school volleyball,” Gustafson said. “This feeling is unexplainable. These past four years we have worked so hard for this moment.”

This year’s team is incredibly special due to the forever bonds and friendships that have been made. This year has set the standard for future Bulldog Volleyball. Aspen Maxwell, star outside hitter and University of Missouri commit says,

“Winning district was long awaited,” said junior Aspen Maxwell, star outside hitter and University of Missouri commit. “We’ve been playing with the possibility forever and finally decided to make it happen.”

Bulldog volleyball will now shift its focus to the playoffs.

“The team’s attitude going into the playoffs is unstoppable,” Maxwell said. “We celebrated the district championship, but now the next goal is to make history going into playoffs. Everyone wants the same things and everyone has completely bought into the vision.”

The next step for Lady Bulldog volleyball is Bi-District, which will be held in a few weeks.
