Coaches prepare for Jan. 20 Tryouts

Kendall Floor, Reporter

The start of the 2023 baseball season is upon us with the first day of tryouts on Friday, Jan. 20, at 6 p.m. The second day is Saturday, Jan. 21, at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

“The best tip for a successful tryout is to stay active refining your baseball skill set prior to the actual tryout,” Coach DJ Wilson explains.

Last year, the Bulldog baseball team won the district title and went deep into the playoffs. This season Coach Wilson has the same expectations.

We expect to be one of the 128 teams in Texas that advance to the playoffs,” he said. “We hope to compete for a District Championship each season and this season is no different than that. We look forward to the 2023 season and hope to create some outstanding memories with the team and teammates along the way.”

Most of the returning players are seniors, bringing veteran experience to the roster. Second baseman senior Dylan Eaton elaborates on his time playing baseball at SCHS.

“I’m sad because this is my last time playing in a Bulldog jersey, but I’m really excited to play with my guys one last time,” Eaton said.

This upcoming season is definitely one to watch. Requirements to tryout include attending all three sessions, having a current physical on file, passing all classes on the previous report card and more. Complete tryout information can be found at summercreekbaseball.com.
