Affleck’s Flicks: 2023 Movie Preview
January 12, 2023
I haven’t written one of these for a while but for my first article of the year, I wanted to write about some awesome movies coming out this year because there are so many good ones. These will be in chronological order and some of these have even already come out.
Other than the hit killer doll movie of the year MEGAN, the first big release this year is:
Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania
In this movie, Scott Lang, Hope van Dyne, Hank Pym, Janet van Dyne, and Scott Lang’s daughter, Cassie, are sent to the Quantum Realm and face the villainous Kang the Conqueror and his compatriots. If that makes absolutely no sense, I can’t even try to explain it. Feb. 17 is when it comes out, so if you’re interested, remember Feb. 17.
Next is the movie of the year, Best Picture for sure, Cocaine Bear. It’s about a bear that ingests a lot of the previously mentioned drug and goes on a rampage. It’s actually based on a sad true story which is insane to me. Feb. 24, I know I’ll be watching it.
The end to the trilogy of which I’ve never seen any of the movies, Creed 3. From what I know, Adonis Creed, son of Apollo Creed, faces his former childhood friend in the ring. I’m sorry I don’t know much, but March 3.
Next we’re heading to NYC for Scream 6. We don’t know a lot about this movie but it looks to be the standard Scream affair, but in the Big Apple. March 10, I’m really looking forward to it.
Quick Speed Round:
Wonka, Willy Wonka origin story starring Timothee Chalamet, Dec. 15
Shazam: Fury of the Gods, Shazam again, double Shazam, March 17
Kraven the Hunter, who’s idea was this?, Oct. 6
Evil Dead Rise, a reboot to the classic horror franchise, April 1
Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, a DnD movie that looks kinda cool, March 31
Okay back to the normal schedule:
John Wick: Chapter 4. Don’t attack me, but I haven’t seen any of the John Wick movies. They seem really cool and people are really excited for it, so March 24 if you’re interested.
Also The Super Mario Bros Movie, Chris Pratt playing Mario against Bowser played by Jack Black. It’s gonna be great, check it out April 7.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be just amazing, just so spectacular. The Guardians VS Adam Warlock. It’s gonna be the epic finale to the best trilogy in the MCU. Go watch it May 5.
Another speed round:
Fast X, I think they’re going to do like a car Megazord in this one. That’s pretty much it. May 19th.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, it’s animated and is being made by Seth Rogen so I hope it’s good, Aug. 4.
A new Ghostbusters movie, not a lot of info, but Dec. 20.
Also, this year is the controversial Little Mermaid live-action remake. Most of these live action remakes haven’t been the best, but I think there’s a good chance that this movie changes the streak. May 26.
Next is another one I’m really looking forward to, Across the Spider-Verse. The last one was just stupendous, so I hope this one can be even 50% as good. Miles and Gwen are now fully traveling through the Spider-Verse, so it’s going to look really cool. June 2.
Three more movies to go, it’s almost over:
First, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. Harrison Ford’s last performance as the famed treasure hunter in 1960s New York City. Indiana Jones is my favorite franchise so I’m very excited, June 30.
Next is Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1. Even bigger stunts in this one probably, which is insane but Tom Cruise might die during production because of the death defying things he’s doing. July 14.
Last, but certainly not least, the movie everyone’s been waiting for, not one person isn’t excited for it, the Barbie movie. It might even beat Cocaine Bear for movie of the year because it is going to be the best movie of the year, maybe decade, maybe even century! Please go watch it, July 21. Also I guess there’s a new Christopher Nolan movie called Oppenheimer the same day but watch Barbie!
Super long article, I’m sorry but movies are great and all of these, except maybe Kraven the Hunter and Wonka, are completely worth watching. So get excited, get your money ready for the amount of movie tickets to buy, and watch as many of these as you can!
