This past week the 58 choir students who made it past the first round of region competed in the second round of the TMEA All-state process. Each and every student worked hard for the past month to compete for a spot in the mixed choir, and for a chance to compete in the pre-area round. Out of those 58 students, 33 students moved on to the pre-area round.
“When I found out that I made it into the mixed choir, I was overjoyed that I would be moving on in the All-state process,” Junior Dylan Henderson said. “It was such a euphoric feeling hearing my name called.”
The next two rounds consist of singing the songs they have previously learned and sight reading. There’s a lot of practice in and outside and out of class, with most of these students even taking voice lessons to improve their skills.
“I feel a rush of excitement and anxiety at the same time because this round is one of the most cut-throat rounds before state,” senior Shelby Dotson said. ”I also can’t wait to see how well our school does because we have very talented and amazing performers”.
Best of luck to our 33 students !
