A day filled with excitement and nerves, where dreams are cemented into reality, seniors officially sign their letters of intent to their future colleges and universities. National signing day was held on Nov 8 at United City Church. 32 Humble ISD students signed commitments to further their athletic and academic careers.
“I felt a sense of pride and relief,” Oklahoma State Commit, senior Madisyn Jackson said. “I have been dreaming of this day for so long.”
The day culminated years of hard work and dedication, not only from the student athletes themselves, but from their families and loved ones. Both parents and athletes put hours of blood, sweat, and tears into this accomplishment, from early morning practices to late night workouts.
“Having my friends and family around me in support truly means everything,” University of Texas at Austin Commit, senior Luke Stibrich said. “They were an essential part of my journey, and gave me a sense of gratitude beyond comparison.”
It is important for one’s college to be home away from home. For Stibrich, the University of Texas at Austin is just that. UT fits Stibrich academic and athletic goals. At UT Austin, What Starts Here Changes The World. Stibrich is able to participate in this dream.
“Ever since I was little, UT has been my dream school,” Stibrich explained. “The environment, the school, and the team gave me a feeling I didn’t find anywhere else. Being able to continue my journey as a Longhorn is really a dream come true.”
After officially signing to be a Poke, the hard work starts now for Jackson, with track season right around the corner.
“I have to keep up the momentum,” Jackson said. “The real work starts now.”
Jackson’s final track season in Bulldog uniform means so much more. Now, she can shift her focus from personal goals to giving back to the coaches and team that she loves so much.
“The upcoming track season means so much,” Jackson said. “This is the last season with the people who have gotten me to where I am today. I owe it to them to leave with a bang.”
