At the recently concluded Harris County Fair, the enthusiasm and dedication of participants shone through. The event spanned three days, and at its heart were the efforts of passionate individuals, including the admirable involvement of the organizer responsible for bringing 13 students into the fold.
“I am on the executive board of the Harris County Fair, so I run two different contests. The kids I took were volunteers helping me run the contest,” shared Ms. Reed.
Additionally, Ms. Pageant brought in students engaged in a unique contest—breeding rabbits, showcasing the diverse range of activities participants could sign up for, especially for those living in Harris County.
Among the standout moments was the triumph in the creative arts category. Jaylene Weeza, one of the students, earned the grand champion title with her remarkable drawing. Another talented participant, Hailey Dawel, not only secured a blue ribbon in creative arts but also showcased her handcrafted blanket in a successful silent auction.
Reflecting on the experience, the organizer expressed, “My favorite part about the whole fair was seeing the kids compete. Seeing them flourish makes it worth it because they are succeeding, even those who aren’t traditional ag students. It shows there’s a lot more to Agriculture and FFA than what people think.”
