One of the staple traditions during Thanksgiving is the food that many look forward to. There are some traditional foods like Turkey, and there are some non-traditional foods like Mac and Cheese. Every family has different traditions and foods that get passed down through the generations. This leads to every family’s Thanksgiving dinner looking a little different.
“I eat Caribbean food because Caribbean food is special to me because it connects me to my culture.” Sophomore Alina Williamssaid said. “ The spices, smell, and love within the food we make takes me right back to St. Croix.”
It’s clear that the different foods that people eat are connected to their culture. This allows people to connect to their culture during a family related holiday. This creates traditional food for family traditions during the holidays.
“I eat cuisine from each culture that my family members bring.” Sophomore Elayne Dyer said. “My family is very diverse so when everyone brings a dish to the Thanksgiving table it’s filled with different cultural food.”
This shows how everyone’s table looks different depending on your own traditions and family. Everyone can enjoy their own family and be thankful for everything that they are given through the holidays. Even though some foods are more well known than others, they are all still Thanksgiving food.
