On Nov. 17, Summer Creek’s AV program hosted the annual food drive to give to Summer Creek families that are in need.
“I think the food drive is great,” sophomore AV member Soren Sloan said. “I love the fact that we are able to help families here at Summer Creek with our donations.”
The AV program is making the food drive into not only something helpful to Summer Creek but also something that makes this rewarding for students to get involved in. Teachers put a box in their 5th period class and promote students to get involved by bringing canned foods. Classes can also decorate their boxes for extra points. Whoever has the most points in total gets a pizza party once school returns from the Thanksgiving break.
“We’ve talked to a lot of people, sent tons of emails, and some of us have even made flyers and posted them around the school,”junior AV member Cayden Affleck said. “We’ve been in contact with different parts of the school that we haven’t before. I think it’s really great what we’ve done so far.”
Summer Creek’s AV program has worked incredibly well to put this all together. AV sponsor DeAndre Smith is successfully leading this whole operation and with it improving more than ever.
He has had the SCTV, but also many of the AV social media websites, promote this charity organization to greatness. From the way this charity event is currently going, the SCHS community is eagerly excited to see the greatness that will unfold in the following years.
“This is a great way for them to start giving back,” AV sponsor Deandre Smith said. “ I think I have a strong group of individuals, about nine students, and they work hard together. This is a great way for them to help their community by giving back to the community and having a great cause.”
