Thick knit, put-up Christmas trees, and the mildly concerning sniffles that echo throughout the crowded halls. Winter has finally descended upon us in a much needed chilly blow. With the official start of boot season, students and staff alike get to witness another year of Christmas cheer.
In one last push of academic strain, Bulldogs have plenty to look forward to.
“Being cozy in my bed with lots of blankets while watching movies,” senior Thi Chung said. “It’s my favorite part.”
Movies are a holiday staple with flurries of them being released every decade. From sugar-filled Hallmark movies to iconic classics like The Polar Express, sitting down, a cup of cocoa in hand, and a not-yet-bald Bruce Willis on screen is all one needs for a well-deserved silent night.
Certain students experience a bittersweet nostalgia as the holiday season approaches with many favorites being produced purely from the memories associated with it.
“Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, A Christmas Carol! I had to think back to Elementary school,” Chizitere Okolie exclaimed.
Others have a different favorite tradition.
“Christmas morning,” senior Nathan Argueta comments, “I celebrate with my extended family all night on Christmas Eve, but Christmas mornings are just for my immediate family.”
Imagine the fluffy blankets strewn across piles of pajama sets and long socks, rich chocolatey goodness with puffed sugar in a mug, maybe a fireplace- at least the hum of a heater, the smell of a home-cooked meal, frosted window glasses, and the softly glowing Christmas lights. It’s beautiful.
Hang tight Bulldogs. You are almost to the finish line. Then, it’s time to enjoy the splendor of warmth and family this season has to offer.
