It’s that daunting time of the year when everyone is feeling the pressure—classes are winding down, and most importantly, finals week is upon us.
One unique aspect of finals week at Summer Creek is the option to exempt two final exams. This opportunity, however, comes with conditions. Students must have a clean disciplinary record (no ISS) and a passing grade in the class. For those with a spotless record and a solid grasp of the material, the exemption is a fantastic opportunity to step away from the stress of studying for every class.
“I’m planning on taking my English final so it prepares me for the AP exam,” senior Leslie Barron said.
When it comes to preparing for finals, students use various strategies. One popular approach is meticulously going over notes, a method favored by many.
“The strategy I use to study is reviewing notes,” Barron said.
It’s a tried-and-true method that underscores the importance of review and reinforcement in the learning process.
Amidst the pressure and the race against the clock, it’s essential to address the mental toll that finals week can take. The struggle to prioritize mental health is a common theme among students.
“I find it hard to prioritize my mental health,” senior Elijah Fernandez said.
A balanced approach to studying—one that recognizes the importance of both academic success and personal well-being—is well needed.
Whether planning to exempt or take finals, each student is going to be going through the week differently, with the hope that the end brings a sense of accomplishment and a well-deserved break. Don’t give up Bulldogs, finish the year strong!
