The Senior Sparkle
Editor Phoebe Siders reflects on a senior milestone
September 27, 2022
Only seven weeks into school, our seniors have already had some essential senior memories, such as Senior Sunrise, one last Homecoming at the Creek, and now we have arrived at senior pictures. Last week, the class of 2023 took their senior portraits, and it went even better than we could have imagined.
As seniors enjoyed this so-real experience, journalism’s very own Mrs. Melinda Wood heard some amusing comments throughout the days as senior donned their graduation gowns, such as “it feels like I’m going to church” and also, “I look like I attend Hogwarts!” We love our class of 2023 and their hilarious comments.
A lot of our seniors had a blast, but there were a few who not only enjoyed their pictures but also found them immensely emotional. Senior Brooklynne Brown said, “taking senior pictures made me feel both excited and emotional, thinking about how we are growing up so fast makes me shed a tear, but I know there are so many new chapters opening up in my life.”
Another senior at the Creek, Alana Martinez, also said, “senior pictures made me feel emotional because seeing me and my friends in our gowns made me realize how fast this is all happening and the fact that we are graduating so real.”
Even though events like this can be emotional when accomplishing your final year of high school, we believe everyone in the class of 2023 should feel prideful in their cap and gown as coming to this point should be applauded. We can’t wait for all our amazing-looking seniors to receive back their pictures and show them off to family and friends!
