A giant plant is snatching citizens and eating them up!

Does that seem like a play you would want to see?

Summer Creek High School’s theatre program will be performing the musical production of Little Shop Of Horrors, starring freshman Keri Ovalle in the lead role of Audrey.

“I was extremely excited and overwhelmed at the same time when I found out I was cast as a freshman with the lead,” said Ovalle.

Not only was Ovalle cast as the lead character of the production as a freshman, but Little Shop is her first high school play.

“It has been so much fun,” Ovalle said, “I have met so many new people and made such amazing friends. I have had nothing but a positive experience.”

Including Ovalle, the production has a cast of over twenty people in all grade levels. According to the theatre’s website, in the play, Seymour Krelborn, a meek floral assistant, stumbles across a new breed of plant. But, this monstrous plant promises fame and fortune as long as Seymour keeps feeding it human blood and flesh, making this the perfect ticket ahead of Halloween.

“The show has been fantastic,” said one of the play’s directors Ms. Jillian Johnson. “New members are performing really well. They are all strong-willed and we are such a close-knit theatre family. I’m so excited to show everyone what we have been working so hard on.”

Ovalle agrees that the cast has been working hard, noting how appreciative she is of the directors pushing them to be their best.

“We work really hard on all the songs,” Ovalle said. “My favorite song to perform is Somewhere That’s Green.”

Catch Keri Ovalle and the rest of the cast of Little Shop Of Horrors on at 7 p.m. on Oct. 21, 22, 27 and 29 or at 2 p.m. on Oct. 22 and 29. The play is rated PG-13 and you can order tickets at seatyourself.biz/summercreek.
