After 11 years of flashing lights, say smile, and leaving class to go stand in a line behind everyone else in your class to take those dreaded school pictures, seniors finally got to take their cap and gown school photos. On Sept. 11 and 12, seniors donned their caps and gowns for the first time and took their very last school photos.
“It feels very surreal,” Senior Dailynn Jimenez said before taking her photo. “We have just been looking forward to senior year for so long.”
These seniors have been waiting for this moment for 12 long years, maybe even longer. From Pre-K through 11th grade, students dress up one day a year to remember their school year, as they look through their old yearbooks as an adult. Every student knows about the day and dreads it, but the seniors finally get to try on the well-known cap and gown.
“Putting on the cap and gown just felt so crazy,” Jimenez exclaimed. “It feels so different from the others.”
Other seniors said that it was a sad day because it was like the beginning of the end of their high, middle and elementary school experience. Other things that people noticed about the underclassmen photos is that they went a lot quicker this year than last.
All together it was a successful picture day and we know we will be able to see our faces in the yearbook at the end of the year. No matter if you are a freshman or senior, everyone will see a picture that hopefully they will look back on with a bittersweet smile when remembering their days at Summer Creek High School.
