Having football by his side since he was eight years old, Anthony Thomas is now a strong safety on the Summer Creek’s varsity football team. Being a strong safety all throughout his high school career, Anthony is now a senior on the field.
His love for football starting at an early age, Anthony’s inspiration was inside his family, giving him the opportunity to see what football was all about up close.
“My cousin played for the NFL,” Anthony said. “And I just followed the family.”
Being with a team so long, bonds will form whether it is short or long term, but Anthony and his coaches are bonded by memories and uplifting of one another.
“They pushed me to be the best man I can be on and off the field,” Anthony shared. “Really like family.”
As a defender on the field, Anthony’s mentality is on lock. With his role requiring his full attention he puts his heart and soul onto the field.
“I have more responsibility and I have to think quicker,” he stated. “Makes me have to focus a little bit more.”
Making his mark on the team, Anthony has two offers from colleges such as Howard University and Murray State.
“Just keep doing what you’re doing and just take time as you get used to it,” Anthony said.
Not knowing where life may lead him Anthony knows that God is leading him wherever he goes. Whether that’s the NFL or an aspiring career. Knowing that God is watching his every step, Anthony has nothing to fear.
“I just do what God takes me to do,” he said.
