In what was originally a way to interview and meet new students, Brayden Wilson found his place and passion for journalism.
Now a member of the yearbook staff, Wilson has taken on many different sections to work on. Of all the sections he’s worked on, the band section stands out the most, bringing him a sense of familiarity and connection.
“Currently, I’m working on band,” Brayden said. “I think that’s my favorite because there’s a lot you can do with it and previously I was in there. I know a lot about the subject and there’s just a lot you can put into a story.”
While Wilson enjoys being part of yearbook, he admits there are still difficulties and challenges he faces while working, from deadlines to the quality of his work.
“I’d say the hardest part of journalism would be the deadlines,” he said. “You have to get your page done in a certain amount of time and you want the page to have a lot of quality.”
Wilson, now a senior, has gained experience that has helped him through the challenges of journalism. With his experience, he can guide future students.
“Honestly just to stay dedicated and keep working, the more you do anything in journalism, the better you get,” he said to encourage the next generation of yearbook students.
